Sir Tom Farmer

Sir Tom is the founder of Kwik-Fit, one of the World’s largest automotive parts repair and replacement specialists. He opened his first business, Tyres & Accessory Supplies in 1964 in Buccleuch Street, Edinburgh when he was 23 years old. In 1971 he founded Kwik-Fit in Edinburgh leaving the company in February 2002 to concentrate on his other business interests - property development, venture capital and investment companies and numerous charity and community projects.

Sir Tom has received numerous awards and honours - Honorary Degree of Doctor of the University College, Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh in 2002, Recipient of the Golden Plate Award – American Academy of Achievement in 2000, Scotland’s Elite Leader of the Year Award 1999, The Institute of Management Gold Medal 1998, Knights Bachelor in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 1997, and Knight Commander with Star of the Order of St. Gregory the Great (From Pope John Paul II) in 1997.
