Board & Ambassadors

Matthew has many years experience facilitating diverse groups to learn and work together. His background is in business development and leadership education, working with major commercial, public and non-profit organisations.   

From 1993 to 2000, Matthew was Programme Director with Edinburgh Common Purpose, the UK independent civic education programme for emerging leaders. Planning, delivering and facilitating this experiential learning programme included working directly with senior decision makers and key organisations across the private, public, voluntary and community sectors. 

Before to joining Common Purpose, Matthew gained an MBA from the University of Edinburgh and was involved in business consultancy, leisure management and scientific publishing.  Working with the IMS Trust in Edinburgh, he was responsible for advising and supporting people in the start of their own businesses, and for developing and delivering executive career review workshops. As well as running his own business in commercial sailing tuition for a time, he had early career experience as a Commissioning Editor for Elsevier Applied Science Publishers .
